About this tour
This Indian Nose overnight tour takes the Rostro Maya experience further: instead of a same-morning return, you'll camp at the summit for a full night under the stars. This Indian Nose camping tour begins with the afternoon ascent and sunset, followed by dinner around a campfire, and continues the next morning with sunrise from the top of the Mayan Face. It's the same sacred Maya mountain — also known as the Indian Nose or Mayan Nose — but with camping added for a slower, fuller experience.
Indian Nose Overnight Hike — Day 1: Ascent & Sunset
However you join us — by boat from Panajachel, from your hotel in San Pedro, from the meeting point in San Juan, or via tuk-tuk from San Marcos — everyone comes together for the ride to Santa Clara La Laguna, where your guide will give the necessary instructions to start the hike. (If you're departing from Panajachel, you'll start earliest, at 3 PM by boat, to arrive in time to join the group in San Pedro.) The ascent on foot takes approximately 45 minutes at a moderate pace. When we reach the top, we'll watch the sunset and set up camp, sharing dinner around a campfire under the stars.
Indian Nose Overnight Hike — Day 2: Sunrise & Return
We'll wake up at 5 AM to watch the sunrise and enjoy breakfast at the summit. After taking in the scenery, we'll break down camp and begin a 25-minute descent to the vehicle, followed by a 45-minute transport back to San Pedro La Laguna, arriving around 8 AM.

It's rated moderate. The trail is uphill and steep in a few sections, but it only takes about 45 minutes and is manageable for most people with basic fitness. You go at your own pace, and your guide is there to support you the whole way.
2What happens if it's cloudy or rainy?
The tour runs in most weather conditions, and the summit atmosphere is unforgettable regardless. A perfect sunrise can't be guaranteed since nature decides — some mornings are crystal-clear, others misty — but the dry season (November–April) offers the clearest skies.
3Is this tour suitable for kids or older travelers?
Yes, as long as they're comfortable with a short uphill walk in the dark and an early start. Children should be accompanied by an adult. If you have mobility concerns, feel free to message us beforehand so we can advise you.
4Do I need a guide, or can I hike it alone?
We strongly recommend going with our local guide. The trail is poorly marked and crosses private community land that requires permission. Our guides know the correct, approved route and keep the experience safe and smooth.
